Learn Spanish In Costa Rica

Costa Rica is an extremely popular vacation spot whose national language is Spanish.  However, Costa Rican Spanish is different from standard Spanish; therefore, you may  need to learn some Costa Rican Spanish even if you are fluent in standard Spanish.  Nevertheless, you can rest assured that you will not be alone as Costa Rica has a thriving $2 billion a year tourist industry.  You will find plenty of other tourists who will more than likely need to learn Spanish in Costa Rica also.

There are essentially two dialects to the official Costa Rican Spanish language.  One of them is the main dialect, which is the one that you will more than likely learn.  The second dialect is the one that occurred when there was an influx of Jamaican immigrants to Costa Rica.  They brought with them a Creole version of English.  However, this version is probably more difficult to understand than the main Costa Rican dialect.  The community in the Costa Rica is thriving and you will certainly find somewhere to learn Spanish.

Whilst it is true that many people do not wish to spend their vacation time learning the local language in lessons, the chances are that you will learn some of the language as you go about your vacation from place to place.  It would be helpful to ask the staff at your resort as to what parts of the Costa Rican language would be more useful to you, so that you do not waste valuable vacation time.  The Costa Rica has one of the highest literacy rates in the Latin world, so you will almost certainly find someone who can assist you in learning Spanish in Costa Rica.

Try to Avoid the Scam Artists

Even though it would be fun to learn Spanish in Costa Rica whilst on vacation, it is imperative that you are careful when enquiring about lessons.  Do not approach a local and ask about their language.  The reason for this is that even though tourism is thriving in Costa Rica, there are some locals that do not welcome tourists very warmly and some may attempt to scam you, or even rob you, when they discover that you are visiting their country on vacation.  Therefore, always enquire with the staff at your resort so that you miss the scam artists and thieves.

The Spanish language in Costa Rica is one of the best souvenirs that you can take back home with you.  You will certainly impress your friends with this extra language that you have added to your vocabulary.
